MECHANICAL HEART: A brother's tribute
Inspiration
MECHANICAL HEART is not a metaphor, it is a tribute.
I lost my brother, who was waiting for a heart transplant he never received. So I wanted to create the one I would have liked to build for him with my own hands. A hybrid heart, cobbled together, assembled, so that he could stay with us a little longer.
The symbol
This vibrant red placed on this sunny yellow, it is life that beats, despite everything.
The bolts, the metal parts, it's a ludicrous but sincere attempt to repair the irreparable.

The creative process
This work was born out of a need rather than an idea.
It is part of my series Objects thwarted, but it carries a different intimate charge: beyond the détournement, it is a piece that holds a vanished breath, that transforms absence into presence, that gives a body to memory.
The manufacturing
The core is made of polyurethane, PVC and metal, on painted glass in a painted aluminum frame.
The impact
MECHANICAL HEART touches each person differently: some see it as the fusion of human and machine, others as a critique of our times. For me, it is above all a heartbeat stopped too soon, which I wanted to prolong through art.
